Date night just isn't what it used to be.
Now that you're a larger team, finding activities that you enjoyed pre-family that you can still do with your kids is a real world challenge.
A popular pre-baby activity amongst couples in and around the Asheville area is date night at one of the many local breweries our area has to offer.
Brewery and baby don't seem like they mix too harmoniously, but you'd be surprised how some of the local breweries have tailored their experience to family trips.
Here are some of our favorites.
1. The Asheville Brewing Company
With TWO family-friendly locations in Asheville, this is a favorite for some great beer and an alternative to family movie night. The original restaurant & brewery (675 Merrimon) doubles as a mini movie theatre, featuring new movies and even some in 3D!
At the second location (77 Coxe Ave) you'll find great food & beer in a casual environment, and only a short walk away from downtown Asheville. The kids can snack on some pizza or finger foods and you can enjoy a craft beer from their impressive fleet of drafts.
Their covered patio at the Coxe Ave location makes it a great summertime hangout in Asheville where you and the family can play yard games like Giant Jenga and Cornhole toss.
And if packing up the kids for a meal out is too much of a hassle, Asheville Brewing still has a solution for you. Check out their third location in South Asheville (1850 Hendersonville Rd). There's a limited carry-out and delivery menu (yup - you can even get their beer delivered!)
2. Blue Ghost Brewing Company
This casual and comfortable local brewery always has some fun events for Asheville families. Just a short drive south of Asheville in Fletcher, NC, The Blue Ghost Brewing Company hosts themed parties, food trucks, live music and even crafts for kids.
For the grown-ups they have a wide variety of seasonal craft beer specials and year round selections for everyone. The Blue Ghost is very environmentally forward and we love that they are really pushing for our area's environmental awareness and sustainable resources.
The kids will love the different activities and excitement here at Blue Ghost and with something going on every day of the week, any day can be a family adventure.
3. Sierra Nevada
At Sierra Nevada, they are absolutely committed to delivering an authentic craft experience, from their incredible beer selections, to their menu. They use home grown and sustainably sourced ingredients to bring the farm to table experience to this Asheville restaurant.
This is a family friendly environment to bring your kids to dinner and catch some live music under the stars. You can tour the brewery by day, have an amazing dinner and dance the night away outside with your kids. If you haven't been recently, come check out the newly opened children's play area!
Spend a relaxing evening with your kids this summer at Sierra Nevada and enjoy a true taste of Asheville (just a bit south in beautiful Mills River, NC).
4. The Highland Brewing Company
Highland Brewing Company in east Asheville is a very relaxed brewery that the whole family can enjoy. Highland Brewing hosts a schedule of live music, factory tours and food trucks on various nights throughout the month.
Kids can come grab a snack and dance around to live music in the large open meadow or check out some of the other events that Highland has to offer. This month they even have an animal rescue visit and trivia nights.
The adults of the family will appreciate their quality craft beer selections and small batch beer series and craft beer tasting events.
Before planning your trip, be sure to check their events calendar as there are times the brewery, rooftop, and/or outdoor meadow are closed for private events.
Breweries can be a really fun and interactive event for your whole family this summer in Asheville. There's no shortage of amazing food, drinks, music and fun to be had here in our own backyard.
There is a long list of amazing breweries in our area that are family friendly, so you can make a brewery visit part of your summertime weekend routine this year!
Stay in touch with events at local breweries and you can choose nights that fit your family's style of music and fun!
