Before your baby has even arrived, you've probably been bombarded with all the stories and warnings from well-meaning friends and family members. "Get ready for sleep deprivation!" "Sleep while you can before your baby is born, once s/he's here you won't be sleeping for a loooong time." And how about the classic "sleep when the baby sleeps" advice? Sounds practical enough... until your baby is actually here and you realize that "when the baby sleeps" is also the only time you have to eat, shower, exercise, straighten up around the house, get some work done, or even just zone out for a bit (we ALL need to!).
Suffering through months of sleep deprivation doesn't have to be part of your parenting experience. Our Doulas of Asheville Postpartum & Infant Care Doulas are available day and night to support your family.

After an overnight shift with your Doulas of Asheville Postpartum & Infant Care Doula, you will have had several hours of sleep (in a row!), knowing your baby was being cared for by your capable, knowledgable, and compassionate doula. Our doulas will work with you to understand your family's needs and goals, providing care that perfectly aligns with them.
If you are breastfeeding and want to nurse on demand throughout the night, your overnight postpartum doula can bring your baby to you for every feeding (or at times you specify) and put her back to sleep when you are done. You'll be able to drift back to sleep while your doula stays with your baby, soothing and comforting her as needed.
Families who are bottle feeding, either pumped breast milk or formula, may choose to have their overnight infant care doula take over some or all nighttime feedings. We'll talk with you about when and how you'd like your baby fed, and follow your lead. As with all our support, we're here for you unconditionally, without any bias toward any decision you make as a parent from birthing to infant care, feeding method to diapering, and everything else.

Doulas of Asheville Postpartum & Infant Care Doulas are available for 8-12 hour overnight shifts. We do everything in our power to arrange as much daytime and overnight support for your baby and your family as you'd like, and our agency model makes that possible.
Families looking to book multiple overnight and/or daytime shifts a week or over a period of months may work with more than one of our doulas, but those booking our temporary live-in care will have their doula for 24-hours a day around the clock.
