How did you decide to become a doula?
After my own experience becoming a parent, I became passionate about supporting families as they navigate big changes. For me, choosing to become a doula (and specifically to open a doula agency) is about supporting my family while doing work that feels incredibly rewarding. I love being with families as they grow and find their own way through birth, adoption, surrogacy, and managing the transition to becoming parents. As a business owner, I love being able to provide meaningful work to the other doulas that work through this agency.
What's your favorite way to spend a day off?
Since moving Asheville, I've become a mountain lover. I love finding new (to me) trails and spending the day hiking and exploring with my family.
If you could take a month long trip anywhere in the world, where would you go?
This one's tough for me! I've always wanted to stay at one of those super luxe bungalows over the water somewhere like the Maldives, but I'd also love to go back to Europe with my husband to experience it with him. (I lived in Luxembourg for six months during college and was able to travel all over Europe, the UK, and northern Africa.)
You have a whole weekend to binge watch TV, what's on your list?
Call the Midwife, Orange Is the New Black, Handmaids Tale, (and I'd like to pretend I'm classier than this, but at least one of the BRAVO crews would probably sneak in there.)
Tell us something about yourself that we may be surprised to learn.
I was the captain of my high school's synchronized swimming team and golf teams and I was once a contestant on The Price Is Right. (Thankfully the evidence of my Price Is Right experience is only preserved on VHS … and no one has a VHS player anymore, right?!)
All Doulas of Asheville doulas have been trained by international doula training organizations, have First Aid/CPR certification and are insured.
